MADAME TUSSAUD 2015: LA FEMME 100 TÊTES ET CULS

Voltaire was Marie Tussaud's first, original death mask.

WAX FACT: All ppl are gonna do is go up to that statue and take pictures shoving their crotch in her face and putting their crotch on her butt.

Tussaud dug dirt-basket heads for death mask subjects, that llustrious guillotine-dream-scream-queen. A mask for a flag and revolutions of death parades.

Immediately following the debut of Nicki Minaj, Madame Tussauds launched an Instagram photo contest offering guests the chance to win a Nicki Minaj goodie bag. They will upload their photos posing on the "Anaconda" set to Instagram and tag the pictures with #mtnickiselfie.

[D]ark tourism today does not present death per se but, rather, represents certain kinds of death. As such, dark tourism and the commercialization of death and disaster is referred to as a contemporary mediating institution between the living and the dead.

Blush area, layers of oil. There are many reasons for this enduring success. Good, old-fashioned curiosity-morbidity at the tourist's heart. Will I see this before I die? Will I die before that celebrity does? Will we all die into a wax figure? Will my figure blow out before I die? Will my skin look waxy on a deathbed? Will I be able to hump Nicki Minaj in heaven?

You're in Vegas, so why not treat yourself to the ultimate fame experience? Don bunny ears to become Hef's latest Playboy bunny, chill with Jenna Jameson, or give Jennifer Lopez something to blush about. Snap some photos and show all your friends that you partied VIP with the stars at Club Tussauds!

THE FINISHING

"Guests have been consistently asking us to make her figure. As her music continues to grow in popularity, so does her larger-than-life persona and we wanted to capture that essence by creating the type of Madame Tussauds figure guests will find only in a city like Las Vegas," says Cole Kouvaris, marketing manager, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.

WAX FACT: I would complain and ask for a do-over. That's such underhanded shade.

WAX FINGER ON THE PULSE

1846: Punch Magazine coins the name Chamber Of Horrors for Madame Tussaud's 'Separate Room', where gruesome relics of the French Revolution are displayed.

1925: The attraction is devastated by fire.

1940: A German bomb destroyed Madame Tussauds' cinema. Ironically, Hitler's figure is one of the few left unscathed. In all, 352 heads were destroyed.

2015: The world's first Madame Tussauds wax figure of multi-platinum, award-winning rapper and singer Nicki Minaj debuted on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m.

WAX FACT: As much as that woman has accomplished, they had to put her on all fours... Why not standing up with a mic in her hand ???

Queenie Tussaud, you made effigies of public heroes and rogues.
You rogue, get off my ass or I'll wax your ken mould.

Animatronic breath, sex with Louis the Beloved—
you're an old hag, bag of wires du Barry.

And then there are the more contemporary, more interactive stars. From Brad Pitt, with his squeezable bum, to Kate Moss, alongside whom you can pose for the cover of a glossy fashion mag, the biggest names in entertainment, sport and politics are all dazzlingly represented; authentic down to the very last eyelash…

Live and on the loose, they want nothing less than to give you nightmares. But be warned should you decide to enter SCREAM at Madame Tussauds, you'll need to warm up your vocal chords to ensure you can scream loud enough to be rescued. But then again, who is going to come to your aid…?

It's none of your beeswax, Japan wax mix, that I flaunt this figure—
my ridges formed by the joints between each mould section.
My mould is carefully pulled away to reveal the wax head I tweet with—only wax-me
can remove the seams. My teeth showing,
eyes melted away to make room for acrylics,
I am a thick, surplus liquid wax poured all over you.
My hollow wax cast could draw death masks all over your fans. Every freckle, mole,
wrinkle and dimple is accurately reproduced!

The Madame Tussauds studio began creating Minaj in February, taking nearly six months to create. More than 20 artists sculpted the figure that was inspired by her popular "Anaconda" video. Based from over 300 precise body measurements, Minaj's figure was first sculpted in clay by hand and covered in a plaster cast. Once the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool. Finally, the figure was fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth; hairs on the head and face were inserted individually by hand and countless layers of paints and tints were applied to build up skin tones – all to achieve her astonishingly lifelike figure and her now famous pose.

WAX FACT: Martha Stewart's most iconic moment was when she went to jail but they didn't put her wax figure in a jail uniform... Come on y'all...

Tussauds' owners, Merlin Entertainment, is the world's second largest leisure group after Disney, with a portfolio of fun that includes Alton Towers, the London Eye and Legoland. Last year it reported visitor numbers up by 10% across its attractions with a 16% jump in profits to £239m. Madame Tussauds may be its most unlikely success story.
