My work creates passages in time that resonate from childhood memories combined with responses to present day experiences. Growing up in a lower middle class family, the value of the second-hand object was an enormous part of my upbringing. I use found objects along with select material use for the construction of houses, turning each work metaphorically domestic. I make objects such as a window blind, or manipulate objects such as a broom, utilizing a surface that mimic an industrial finish while using saturated hues to elicit an emotional response. Quirky bulbous shapes and artificial surface transform the narrative of an object, but visually keep a familiarity.
